Why should protective styling-something so deeply rooted in our culture – come with risks we’ve simply learned to accept?

As someone who has worn braids for years, I became increasingly uncomfortable with how little transparency existed around the materials used in conventional braiding hair- and how normalised irritation and long term exposure had become.

I wasn’t trying to disrupt an industry.
I was trying to solve a problem.
